Today’s post is looking at the mistakes you can make when buying a divan bed and how to avoid them.
Divan beds are extremely popular and really do look great in any minimalist bedroom. If you’re new to divan beds, then it is important to ensure that it is the perfect investment for you, and to make no consumer errors when shopping.
5 Mistakes to Avoid When Buying a Divan Bed:
Here are 5 of the most common mistakes that a bed-buyer will make when buying a divan bed, and, some tips on how to avoid these:
Not Trialling Enough Beds Beforehand
The number one mistake a person buying a bed can make is not testing a bed style for long enough before committing to the purchase. Even if you’re buying a bed online, which can often be cheaper due to lack or rent fees etc, it would be good to go into a physical bed store beforehand and try out any similar beds. Each divan bed is different; how do you know whether you want a box sprung divan base or a platform top if you haven’t tried a fair few of each out?
There are many divan bed options such as pocket sprung divan beds and coil sprung divan beds, which are two of the more popular ones, so it really is worth trying as many out as possible rather than jumping into it.
Buying Based on Another Person’s Recommendation
Remember, not everyone finds the same bed comfortable, and everyone has different tastes. Listening to someone else’s thoughts may be extremely useful, but don’t let it determine your decision on whether to purchase a divan bed or not. It may not be to their taste, but you may think it is the best thing since sliced bread.
Choosing a Bed Based on Price
Price will no doubt always be a contributing factor, but it really shouldn’t be the only thing that you look for. Look for the features that are best suited to what you’re looking for – you always pay extra for good quality and for the time that the bed will last, it is sure to be a good investment.
Buying Based on Spring Count
Generally, it is understood that the more springs a bed has, the greater level of comfort and support it provides. However, like I previously stated, each person should be treated as an individual and should test out the different amounts of springs themselves; weights, heights and how many people sleep in a bed contribute towards how firm and comfortable a bed should feel too. Reiterating, not everyone finds the same thing comfortable.
Buying from a Non-Reputable Dealer
Cheap beds that are in extremely cheap stores are often there for a reason, and it is important that you check out the company reviews before going ahead and making a purchase. Not only may the bed be bad quality, but they may not adhere to the UK safety requirements or they could be old beds with new fabric covering to make them look a little newer. Do your research.
Are you in the market for buying a divan bed? If so, do heed these tips and you can’t go wrong.
