As seasons change, so does our decor. To celebrate the coziest time of the year, we’ve partnered with Christiann Koepke to bring you this marvelous autumn mantel inspiration.
As the seasons change, so do we. The desire to curl up and stay in starts to kick in during the Fall. The transition from summer to autumn is the perfect time to incorporate new colors into your space. I believe a little inspiration is all you need to figure out what’s right for you. It doesn’t take much to make your summer abode feel like a cozy, autumn space that you look forward to coming home to on cool crisp evenings. So, just for you- I’m offering up a little inspiration to help you get started on your autumn mantel.
A mantel can transform a room. I love seeing people happy in their own home. No matter the size. These easy steps will show just How-To bring a Fall vibe to your space…
Look at your space.
Identify the items you can do without- the change of every season provides the opportunity to declutter! Grab a few boxes and put away your last season items and begin with a fresh canvas like the before image below.
Take a visual field trip.
Grab a Crate & Barrel catalog, go to the website or pop into your local store. Pick up pieces that speak to you and look for colors that make you feel peaceful.
Mix new with the old.
Unpack the new CB pieces. Incorporate items that you have that compliment your vision (frames, candles, etc…). Lay everything out next to the mantel so that you can see how it all looks together. It does not have to be perfect- if you feel something is missing, sleep on it and make changes the next day.
Create a Backdrop and Glow
Find a focal point ( I used a beautiful vintage mirror). Accent your focal point (e.g. hang a beautiful wreath). Layer in your glow by using candles like the Pumpkin Spice Scented Candles (Try multiple sizes and measure your mantel to determine how many you need)-or- battery powered twinkling lights.
Garland or no garland?
This is up to you! I’ve offered shots of each option so you can see the difference. This Crochet Tassel Garland offers a bohemian element. Without, the look is a bit more classic and traditional. Tip: You can also use garland to double as a table runner or on the coffee table next to the Element Metal Antiqued Brass Tray.
Now you are ready to pour a drink, invite a friend over (or not) and enjoy the Fall vibe that you created!
If you want to go beyond the mantel, here are a few things I recommend for the area around it and your couch:
-If you have a fireplace, this Polished Nickel Fireplace Screen is a work of art (and can be used year round)
-I love the Jada Trunk here. It provides a great way to store extra linens and it also makes a beautiful coffee table. A brass tray on top offers up a safe and beautiful space for drinks and additional candles. This Element Metal Antiqued Brass Tray is my favorite.
-The Espresso Brown Cowhide Rug is the perfect and unexpected solution for highlighting fall colors. It’s rich and dark and your trunk will look amazing over or next to it.
–This gold terrarium adds a special decorative touch, especially when paired with pumpkins! And bonus- it’s a great price right now.
-If you’re like me and create a mood with a mug, check out this Irish Coffee Mug.
I can’t wait to see and hear how your vision turns out!
