The Beaverbrook Hotel is a luxury British country house hotel in Surrey that makes me want to book a flight to England immediately. Beaverbrook takes it’s name from Lord Beaverbrook, William Maxwell Aitken, 1st Baron Beaverbrook, a “Canadian-British newspaper publisher and backstage politician who was an influential figure in British media and politics of the first half of the 20th century.” The hotel has been developed in his old ate Victorian neo-classical mansion and estate called Cherkey Court. It had fallen into disrepair for years and was restored by the Beaverbrook Foundation with the intention of opening it to tours. When this plan was deemed unprofitable, it was suggested a hotel would “safeguard the historic building and protect the integrity of the estate.”

During Lord Beaverbrook’s lifetime, the estate hosted many notable figures including his friend Sir Winston Churchill, H.G. Well, Rudyard Kipling, Ian Fleming, Elizabeth Taylor, and more. Many of them have rooms named after them now at Beaverbrook Hotel designed by Susie Atkinson who has designed many hotels for the Soho House Group. I found out about the hotel via Instagram when many people visited the property including @mrsalice who posted her photogenic children in the very chic Parrot Bar. Hopefully they were only served non-alcoholic drinks.

You can read more in House & Garden where is was previously featured as well.
