It’s been a little while since I arranged any personalised wall art for the house.
I used to avidly have photos of the girls made into canvas prints and popped into photo frames but I guess I’ve fallen out of the habit over the years – particularly as they’ve got older and seem more reluctant to have their picture taken.
If you’ve got teens you’ll appreciate what I mean I’m sure. Remember when they were little and used to pose for the camera with the cutest of smiles? Well now it’s hard to get them to smile let alone look at the camera and do it.
One place I do notice they enjoy posing though is when we’re on holiday.
So this is when I do my best picture taking of the family throughout the year. It does mean, however, that I’m rarely in them.
When My-Picture.co.uk asked me if I’d like to try their service and create some personalised photos for my walls I thought it was a great opportunity to dig through last year’s holiday snaps and find some worth making into lasting photo images.
My-Picture.co.uk Aluminium Prints:
I’ve always loved images of my girls in a more moody black and white finish so went for a few of these to add to a larger display.
These snaps are from our holiday last year in rural Mallorca and capture the serenity of our accommodation beautifully.
The bring back such great memories of that particularly evening. Isn’t it funny how a photo like this can transport you straight back to that particular moment?
These Aluminium Photo Prints are composite panels consisting of feather light plastic and aluminium sheets. Laminated to prevent UV damage, the photo on aluminium is a particularly desirable wall decor item.
I love the contemporary feel of this style of wall art, and in fact, you can place these on a shelf too if you opt for a smaller size.
As you can see I’ve added mine to an existing small collage on my landing where I’ve kept black and white photos of my girls over the years. I’ve not added to it for a long time so this has given me the inspiration to update it.
Check out the aluminium prints on the My-Picture.co.uk website to get the full range of sizes and to give you some ideas on how you could use them. Prices start at £15.
Delivery took about a week when I ordered mine and they arrived well packaged and sealed.
My-Picture.co.uk Canvas Prints:
I’ve often loved canvas prints but haven’t opted for any in a long while to go on the walls.
This time I chose a landscape photo I took from our villa in Mallorca of the countryside down to Palma and the ocean. It was a really great view and this really captures the landscape of this rugged area.
I love the colours so have put this up on the landing – it’s also a spot we walk past A LOT in a daytime so will see on a regular basis. It’s made us chat about the holiday more, and think about where we might go this year. (And look at how the light from the VELUX window above enhances the colour of the paint).
Currently, at the time of writing, canvas prints on the My-Picture.co.uk website start at £8 for a 20×20 piece. There are lots of different ways to customise your canvas print too from a back easel, premium frame, different styles of edging and a variety of wood frame sizings.
